      Engage in a Class or Training on Campus!

      SOUPer Saturday Class:  

      Once each semester prospective students are invited to join the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling and Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision students for a day of engagement and learning - and ice cream!  Designed to provide you an opportunity to learn about the program, engage with current students, and meet Dr. Murray and the Counseling faculty.  

      Spring 2020 Topic & Date: 

      Topic:  “The Use of Mindfulness in Treating and Preventing Substance Abuse Relapse”

      The presentation will underscore the importance of intentional mindfulness interventions as well as the impact of mindfulness and relapse prevention-based interventions in addressing the biopsychosocial aspects of substance abuse relapse.

      • March 14  (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to noon

      Site Supervisor Training:

      Designed for those interested in the Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision Program

      Counselors and Supervisors can earn Continuing Education Credits while learning more about Viterbo University's newest post master's graduate program, the Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.

      Spring 2020 Topic & Date:  

      Topic:  "Objective evaluation,  constructive feedback, and best practices within integrated behavioral health"

      This training explores the collaboration between site supervisors and student interns.  It will identify both the challenges and successes of preparing the next generation of mental health counselors.  Three main components will be addressed.

      • strategies to provide objective evaluation
      • skills for the delivery of constructive feedback
      • review current best practices within integrative behavioral health

       It will be a time of learning and sharing ideas and suggestions with each other.

      • March 27 (Friday) from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
