The Charles D. Gelatt Finance Simulation Laboratory exists thanks to a generous gift from Trust Point Inc.

The Charles D. Gelatt Finance Simulation Laboratory is in Viterbo’s Brophy Center, home to the Dahl School of Business. The lab enhances learning and research capabilities, providing students hands-on experience with the tools needed to compete in the fast-paced world of financial markets. It features two 22-foot stock tickers, 24 dual-screen computer terminals equipped with financial markets simulation software, and four large screen televisions to provide live coverage of the financial markets and world news.

“The Charles D. Gelatt Finance Simulation Laboratory is an extension of the Viterbo Dahl School of Business’ philosophy of giving its students the real-world experience employers are seeking in today’s competitive job market,” said Tom Knothe, dean of the College of Business and Leadership. “It will provide Dahl School of Business graduates with a competitive edge as they seek jobs in the investments' industry and sit for professional certification exams.”

By providing access to the same financial market data, news, research, and analytics accessed “around the clock” by banks, investment institutions, and news organizations worldwide, the lab provides an advanced learning environment designed to integrate investment education, financial research, and professional practice.

“There are great things happening in the Viterbo Dahl School of Business,” said Kent Handel, Trust Point Inc. CEO and Chair of the Viterbo Board of Trustees. “I’m happy Trust Point could support a project that aligns with our industry and will have a significant impact on the education students receive. This new lab will help prepare them for success in the modern business world. I think it is especially fitting that the gift honor Charles Gelatt, who did so much for Viterbo and the community.”
