Workshop in Creative Non-Fiction and Fiction

This advanced creative writing course focuses on the genres of creative nonfiction and fiction. Students will read representative text in both genres with an emphasis on craft, intention, and effect. Students practice artistic observation, description, exposition, and narrative as they build a portfolio that reflects various shapes, styles, and approaches to the genres. Students participate effectively in a workshop setting by responding orally and in writing to the work of their peers. Prerequisite: 211. May be repeated once for credit. AE
